What kind of placements can I find online?

The website mainly offers placements and graduation assignments at Pre-bachelor, Bachelor and Master level. However, you will find placements for all educational levels.

What is Europlacement?

Europlacement is an initiative of Stageplaza, the largest placement mediator in the Netherlands. We cooperate with partner-organisations in several European countries. Many respectable companies are registered at Europlacement. We match these companies with students that want to do an international placement.

Who do I contact if I have a question about the placement itself?

For questions about the placement itself we cannot give you more information than the information on the website. We do not know more about the placement than is mentioned on the website. The best thing to do is apply for the placement and put your questions in your motivation. As soon as a company accepts your application you can contact them and ask them whatever you want.

Do I always get a reaction from companies when I apply?

Usually companies react on your application within 2 week. However, they are not obliged to do anything with your application. If a company has still not replied after 4 weeks, we advise you to contact us at info@globalplacement.com. We can contact the company to clear up the situation.

Can I directly get in contact with a company?

You can get in contact with a company from the moment they have accepted your application. Companies do not want applicants to contact them directly, therefore they work through our system. So if you want to get into contact, make sure that companies will want to get in to contact with you by creating an outstanding profile!

The placement I want to apply for has been online for several weeks. Is it still useful to apply?

All placements on our website are active ones. Some companies are looking for interns the whole year round, which means their advertisements are constantly online. If a company is not looking for interns anymore, we will automatically place it offline.

Is the company obliged to pay me for my placement?

Companies are not legally obliged to pay interns. However, if the primary working conditions of the sector you are working in mentions something about your salary, the company should stick to these rules.

If you do not get a salary, the company is still obliged to cover your expenses. In this case the money you get will not be seen as salary, so you do not need to pay tax for it and it will not affect your child benifits or study financing.

If you do get a salary, you should also sign an employment contract. This means you will also have to pay taxes and social premiums and that you need a health insurance.

Are there any collective working conditions especially for interns?

Most collective working conditions do not mention anything about interns. Sometimes they include some recommendations about hiring interns, but these are mostly directed to the employer.

In the following sectors the collecitve working conditions do mention things about the duties and rights of interns, e.g. the coverage of expenses: Graphical, Hairdressers, Hotels, Restaurants, Café's and some constructing sectors.

Can I get fired?

Since you are not an actual employee of the company, getting fired is the wrong word to use. However, if the company is very dissatisfied with you, they can break-up the training-contract. The training contract automatically ends at the end of your placement.

What's a training contract?

Usually companies use standard contracts. You can request such a contract at info@globalplacement.com. A training contract should always mention the following things:

  • The starting- and ending date of your placement and the number of days you will be working.
  • What you will learn during the placement en what you will do.
  • How the company will guide you and who will supervise you.
  • How your school will guide you and who will be your supervisor from school.
  • How the supervisor at the company is involved in the evaluation of your placement
  • Who will arrange your insurences and who will pay for them.

The training contract is important to avoid financial problems in case of accidents or illness. It also guarantees you that you will actually learn things and that you will be supervised. This protects you from companies using you as a "normal employee".

Can I quit just like that?

You have signed a training contract, so you cannot just quit. Before you take the decision to quit, talk to your supervisor at school and/or at work. If you tell them what is bothering you, they might be able to help you. Successfully finishing your internship is essential for receiving  your diploma. If you quit your internship, it will delay your studies significantly. It might also become pretty difficult to get yourself a new placement if your school does not cooperate. So before you decide to quit, think of the consequences it will have for you.

Social insurance abroad

If you are going to do an internship abroad, you might fall under the social insurance of that country. If this is the case, carefully inform about how you are insured. Health insurance is particularly important.

Usually it is difficult to arrange subsidies or grants when you are doing an internship abroad. Therefore we advise you to start arraning these things as early as possible.

Am I insured during my internship?

If you do not get a salary for your internship, you are not insured for long-term illness, health, and redundancy. If you lose the right of having a health-insurance after your placement, make sure you unregister. Otherwise you will have to pay for being illegaly insured.

Interns always automatically get a general disability insurance. This insurence makes sure that you get paid if you are not able to work for a long time or permanently due to a physical accident or disability.

How can I stop my registerement at the website when I found an internship?

You can contact info@globalplacement.com and we will delete your account from the database.
